Doctors, nurses and lecturers looking for high quality apartments or houses close to the universities and hospitals are being frustrated by a lack of supply.
The seasonal surge in new applications for city properties from medics and other professionals in full swing. It's becoming very clear that whilst the city has had an expanding supply of student properties in the city, professionals coming to work locally are finding it hard to secure suitable accommodation close to their work.
Recent examples of properties receiving high levels of interest range from a traditional three bedroom semi detached house in Knighton at £800pcm that was let within a few days of marketing. The same goes for a house in Bradgate Heights near Glenfield Hospital and several apartments in the New Walk area.
Knighton £800pcm - Excellent access to Universities and LRI and General Hospital.
Let in 4 days.
New Walk, Two bedroom Apartment £750pcm

Huge Demand Over Two Weeks Marketing
With several lecturers and other highly skilled professionals registered with Anderson's in recent weeks due to be arriving in the Leicester very soon it looks like the demand is going to continue to outstrip supply for some time to come. Chris Anderson of Anderson's commented "It is usual that there is a surge of enquiries from medics and academics at this time of year. However, this year we have seen far fewer tenants move on from their properties in the prime city locations and far less landlords investing in property to let to professionals in those same areas. This has caused a marked decrease in availability of property and we cannot satisfy the demand. Last week, so keen to secure a property one prospective tenant offered a rent higher than our advertised price. Nobody wants to see spiralling unsustainable rental costs but it does show that the city needs a strong professional and student property balance if we are going to protect our key workers and encourage professionals to live in the city"
